It's not original, rather it is derived from Yoni mudra and the technique for listening to OM found in the Yogoda lessons.
For best results it should be practiced as the last thing before falling asleep. Here goes - have pillows on the left and/or right to support your elbows, lie down on a flat bed (no head support such as pillows), facing up, and cover your face with your fingers as in Yoni mudra and plug your ears with the thumbs by pushing the tragi in but unlike Yoni mudra the breath is not held, rather it should be completely ignored. Then listen to the sound of OM as described in the Yogoda lessons. Personally I never mutter om-om because this is useless if you are already able to hear the ocean like sound loud and clear. Try to maintain this state of concentrated listening as long as possible even if the elbows become a little tired.

The rewards are felt both immediately afterward and the next day.
This technique I found amplifies the pull of ajna several times over compared to skipping it.
If it was preceded by tongue stretching as in Kechari or Talabya
then the mix becomes even more potent. In time it will bring on qualitatively deeper experiences where the difference between mere tranquility and blissfulness is understood at last.
The technique may be especially valuable to those who are having difficulty achieving Kechari mudra, to help them get to the next level. In the early stages of practice the quality of sleep is much improved (dreamless, revivifying) even though the onset of sleep is usually significantly delayed by correct practice. This technique may be tangentially related to another one in the Yogoda lessons, where you passively hold your attention on the demarcation line between light and darkness, with (unblinking) half closed eyes, following the above exercise. But I rarely do that one.

How do you think this would be integrated with AYP system, does it need to be replaced with something? For how long should it be done?
