I dreamt of you the other night, my love
That you were waiting for me in my home
But I was gone, was out in search of peace
But could not find it drinking wine alone

Battered, I returned.

I found you dressed in shades of gray, my love
With darkened, shadowed eyes of mystery
For having sensed how badly I was burned
You dressed yourself as smoke to comfort me

You know my heart so deeply, love
Can you see you are the wine I seek?
The silence in my eyes a tortured plea
For you to turn your knowing gaze on me
And cool me with your touch, a single touch
But this was not to be...

Yet could you be more perfect, love? More divine?
For you are grace incarnate in my mind.
