Hi All:

It has been a while since I have posted in the Yahoo groups. This is an update on what has been going on in Advanced Yoga Practices (AYP) this year, and on plans for the future. If you are a member of more than one AYP Yahoo group, you may receive more than one copy of this post. Apologies for that. I wanted to be sure to reach everyone who has an interest in AYP. Broadcast postings like this one are few and far between.

As many of you know, the purpose of AYP is to provide a fully integrated system of effective yoga practices as an “open resource” that is easily accessible for independent spiritual practitioners worldwide. The AYP routine is flexible and designed for implementation within a modern cultural setting, so no one has to leave their family and go off to the forest or change their lifestyle to engage in these practices with good results. We have been at it collectively for over four years now, and the community of practitioners has grown steadily.

More importantly, for those who have been taking advantage of the AYP practices over the past several years, the fruits are becoming quite apparent. There is more abiding inner silence, more ecstatic bliss, and more outpouring divine love. These are primary signatures of rising human enlightenment. Reports from many in the AYP Support Forums are confirming that we are indeed on to something. See for yourself by visiting the support forums here: http://www.aypsite.org/forum It is a dynamic community of nearly 2,000 practitioners, coming from just about every cultural and religious background around the world.

What we all have in common is our human nervous system, which is the doorway to the infinite and all divine experience. The practices are for opening our inner doorway, within whatever cultural or religious setting we happen to be in. Everyone has equal access to the natural process of human spiritual transformation. At least that is how it should be. NO MORE SECRETS.

We are doing everything possible to assure the long term availability of the AYP writings. The first priority has been to maintain ongoing free online access to the AYP lessons and support forums. Currently, more than 300 online lessons form the core. And thousands of postings by practitioners in the support forums form an ever-growing knowledge-base, documenting an ongoing refinement of the practices and experiences in the lives of many people around the world.

In addition to the online activities, a number of books are being written and published in paperback and ebook formats. The books so far include a large user-friendly textbook (“AYP Easy Lessons”) expanding significantly on the online lessons, a spiritual novel (“Secrets of Wilder”) -- a story about the evolution of practices in a modern cultural setting, and a series of smaller books (“AYP Enlightenment Series”) covering individual aspects of practice in detail (six of these are complete to date).

Besides the paperback and ebook formats, the AYP Enlightenment Series books are also available in audiobook versions (read by me), in MP3 and CD formats.

For all of the AYP books, ebooks and audiobooks, visit the books page: http://www.aypsite.org/books.html There is a lot of information on the books available there, including content descriptions, reviews, and many free book text and audio previews.

AYP is a work in progress in many respects. Independent practitioners are steadily finding their wings, and the writing and communications go on… It will be interesting to see how it continues to unfold in the years to come.

In 2007, the following publishing activities occurred:

1. Two new Enlightenment Series books came out, #5 and #6 – “Samyama,” and “Diet, Shatkarmas & Amaroli.” And “Self-Inquiry” (#7) is due out by the end of the year.

2. MP3 audiobook downloads have been made available for all of the Enlightenment Series in 2007, plus, CD audiobook versions are becoming available now. The “Deep Meditation” CD version just came out, soon to be followed by “Spinal Breathing Pranayama” and additional titles. See here: http://www.aypsite.org/books.html#dm

3. All of the AYP books have been published in India in economical paperback editions covering India, Asia and Australia. This has been much needed. Now we have the paperback books available through many distribution channels worldwide from three publishing sources – America, England and India.

4. A series of six radio interviews were completed, covering my background and the core practices of AYP. These were recorded and are available for free listening on the website at: http://www.aypsite.org/audio.html

In 2008, it is hoped to complete the following writing and publishing activities:

1. Complete the remaining scheduled Enlightenment Series books – “Bhakti and Karma Yoga” and “Eight Limbs of Yoga” (on the important subject of “self-pacing” our practices).

2. Stay current with publishing audiobooks for new Enlightenment Series books, including MP3 downloads and catching up with the CD versions.

3. Begin, and maybe finish in late 2008, a second large textbook (“AYP Easy Lessons - Vol 2”), covering all that has been written online since the first volume, plus extensive new writings. This second large volume will “round out” the details of AYP as a full scope body of knowledge. Of course, the evolution of “applied knowledge” will continue indefinitely in the public arena. Volume two will be an attempt to bring a degree of closure, at least from this writer’s perspective.

4. Continue participating in the AYP Support Forums, and resume posting new free online lessons in the Yahoo groups and on the AYP websites. New free lessons have been on hold while the intensive book writing has been going on. By the end of 2008, a shift back to more online writing is anticipated.

And beyond 2008:

There are several new Enlightenment Series book ideas bubbling up as possibilities for further writing (these are tentative) – “Yoga and Money,” “Yoga, Death and Dying,” “Yoga, Marriage and Family,” and “Yoga, Politics and Religion.” These might be useful add-ons. We’ll see what happens…

While I continue to peck away at the keyboard, I hope all of you will continue to peck away with daily practices on your own path. And please feel free to bring your questions and comments to the AYP Support Forums, where there are many of like interest. I am there too. We’d love to hear how you are doing. There is strength in numbers.

Wishing you all the best on your chosen path. Practice wisely, and enjoy!

The guru is in you.

PS: There are many who have been helping the AYP work with generous sharing of their time and resources. You know who you are, and I thank you sincerely. It is our joy to be helping others to expand their inherent inner peace, creative energy, and happiness. It is worth doing.
