1. What are your symptoms and how long have you had them? Are your symptoms primarily physical, psychological, or both?

Automatic kryas, what sometimes feels like possession, energy in my body, outside of my body, feeling the chakras, seeing the cahkras, spiritual experiences, religious "delusions" and "hallucinations", paranoia, automatic kechari, what feels like "circuits" being activated in my body, intense desire to meditate, meet God,and do yoga

2. Are your symptoms ongoing, or intermittent? If intermittent, when are they most likely to occur -- during what kind of activity and/or time of the day? Is your sleep affected?

Intermittent. Mostly when I've been meditating or doing pranayama. my sleep is affected

3. Do you consider your situation with kundalini to be the result of spiritual practices, or do you regard it to be spontaneous?

spiritual practices

4. What sort of spiritual practices have you been engaged in, if any? How long? How often? Are you aware that excessive spiritual practice can aggravate kundalini, often with a delayed reaction?

meditation, pranayama, visualization. This was eight years ago. I did my practices for hours each day

5. Do you consider yourself to be “sensitive” to spiritual practices? If so, with what practices, and what sort of measures have you taken to accommodate your sensitivity?

yes, very. I stopped doing them.

6. Do you think drugs have contributed to your kundalini situation?

N/A

7. Have you experienced traumatic events in your life that may have a bearing on your current symptoms?

No

8. Is your sexual lifestyle affecting your symptoms? Are you aware that obsessively limiting sexual release can increase kundalini energy and symptoms?

No

9. What is your general diet? Are you aware that a lighter diet can stimulate kundalini?

Normal diet

10. Do you engage in moderate exercise regularly, like walking, yard work, etc? Are you aware that regular exercise can help stabilize ("ground") kundalini symptoms?

No

11. Are you a highly devotional person? Are you aware that excessive devotional activity, satsang or spiritual study can aggravate an active kundalini?

I was an atheist before this happened. Now Iam obsessed with God and spirituality

12. Are you engaged in ordinary daily activities like a job, school, family, parenting, social activity, service to others? Are you aware that such activities, undertaken without spiritual intention or expectations, can help ground excessive kundalini energies?

yes

13. Have you been examined and treated by a medical doctor or mental health professional for your symptoms in the past? If so, what was the result?

I was diagnosed schizzoaffective AFTER my kundalini awakening

14. Are there other factors and/or measures you are taking in relation to your situation that are not covered above?

I am taking antipsychotics

15. Optional: What is your approximate age (teen, 20s, 30s, 40s, etc.)? What is your gender? We ask because the manifestation of kundalini symptoms can be affected by these factors.

mid 40's, female

Hi gchristine,

All your symptoms are classical kundalini symptoms. They are quite extreme symptoms which are not experienced by most people, but they are never-the-less definite kundalini symptoms.

What often happens when someone experiences a kundalini awakening of this kind, with powerful psychological and emotional symptoms, is that it usually depends if they meet their doctor first, or their spiritual teacher. If they meet their spiritual teacher first, their teacher will explain that this is a spiritual awakening and explain that what is needed is basic grounding practices to stabilize the energies, followed by some simple spiritual practices to help to calm the mind and to work with the energies involved.

If the person meets their doctor first, then they will often be diagnosed as being Schizophrenic and given psychiatric medication. Usually, doctors do not have any knowledge or experience with kundalini and so are not able to recognise the symptoms involved. As I am sure you know, there are often side effects to psychiatric drugs, so when this does happen, it is not just that the people do not get the correct advice and treatment, but they can also suffer the side-effects of the drugs as well. It is a very unfortunate and difficult situation.

How you proceed is up to you. You could try to talk with your doctor about gradually reducing the medication so that you can come off it all together. If they agree, then that would be the best path forwards. Unfortunately, mentioning kundalini may not help, unless they are a particularly knowledgeable and sympathetic doctor!

If you are not able to reduce the medication, then you will have to accept it for what it is and move forwards anyway. Grounding practices followed by balanced and gentle spiritual practices would still work. For grounding practices see here.

Yes I think reducing medication is appropriate here. I quit my meds five days ago, I'm seeing how it goes.
