Ive heard that alcohol and tobacco smoke can really slow down purification.
Alcohol and tobacco are not the answer to your troubles Kala. The only way in which they slow down purification is by adding a lot more garbage that needs to be cleaned up, so of course purification will take longer.
I am working hard on grounding today. Long walk, physical labor in service of others, outdoor activity, heavy food.

This is good. The grounding may happen quickly but usually takes some time. If it is working, you should notice a diminishing of the uncomfortable symptoms within a week or two. If you aren't getting the desired results, then try something else.
