Hi there,

Im afraid im a sex addict. I didnt care that much about it, until i started
with pranayama and ayp. Before pranayama, i masturbated 2 times a day, regulary.
With pranayama it got up to 3 times, and then i started to think about it, the first time.

Seems like a lot of prana im wasting, and i thought i screw it down a bit, but it drives me crazy. After 2 days of abstinence i was as nervous as someone who doesnt get his crack. I thought ill release the tension, but 30mins later the same nervousness set in. My body is probably too used to it.

I´ve been reading something about herbal means to screw down the desire, any ideas?
On the other hand, im not sure if i should force it that way. But 20 times a week, is too much, isnt it? I was abused my half childhood, and im a bit afraid that this could have something to do with it. First time i think about that, in that context, to be true.

So, should i try herbal means, if there are any? Any other hints?

Thanks!
Pan

Thanks for your thoughts, i appreciate them. I feel that my sexuality isnt 100% normal, well it also isnt 100% abnormal, but beeing
abused for 10 years left its marks. However, with the power of spinal breathing and meditation, im sure i can smooth this out.

I trust the practice given from Yoganiji, and dont care too much about the waves that my brain is creating in the meantime, until
purification is finished (hope this lifetime :-)).

Thanks again, for sharing your thoughts and kind words with me.

There is nothing impure in sex! It is the creative life force. It is creating life because it is spiritual. Sex should not be treated as a sin. It is not a sin. Its regulations are social. Social regulations are existing for making shared life acceptable to all. Within socially accepted decency nothing is sinful in sex. One need not be purified from sex! Have sexual energy intact- practice meditation- be compassionate- be devotional- this is what spirituality in nutshell.

Non-ejaculatory sex is refreshing. It keeps one fresh & alive. Indeed that is Brahmacharya practice too. Pranayama + Meditation+ non ejaculatory sex - polluting lifestyles makes one fresh healthy & spiritually sparkling. It becomes easier to control ejaculation completely without sacrificing sexual pleasure and more through siva yoga practice. Bodily one will have always sexual energy + one will always be spiritually elevated. Thirumoola's thiru manthram (thiru manthiram- or sacred mantra) deals with the subject in depth. A practice of siva yogam and repeating the simple mantras of siva yogam one can easily control the tendency to ejaculate. But, one has to learn it from an authentic guru who should be a siva yogi him/her self! Mathras learnt from true-practicing-guru face-to-face are effective.

The most amazing and powerful sex that I have had in my life has been without ejaculation. Every once in awhile I do let it go but its only special occasions maybe once every 2 or 3 months. Once you get the hang of it I doubt that you would ever go back ( unless you are influenced by too much porn, but even that can be overcome by real actual amazing non ejaculatory sex with a partner). It can be a bit of a challenge to convince women that it will actually be better. They often feel that they haven't done their "job" if they can't get you to finish but once they experience the benefits they usually aren't complaining ;)

Sexual energy is indeed spiritual energy. Semen is a spiritual fuel & light if preserved. Sexual desire is OK. But semen should not be ejaculated. Not ejaculating let one to be both sexually & spiritually powerful. One need not suppress sexual desire. Divert the energy for spiritual growth. Then one will always be in sexual pleasure- without doing anything & also one will enjoy the divine sublimity.

About solving sex addiction, the most efficient way is the realization that bliss does not come from genitals. You can consider genitals, having sex, masturbate as a ritual (shaman path) or skillful means (tantra) in order to experience the Source of the Sources. Once you have experienced same bliss via other non-sexual method or gate in your body then sex addiction is solved then you've option to use sex as a mean but not a destination.

I don't really know how to respond to this except to say I'm a little sadder knowing that now.

Masturbation is a direct way to Hell. You must learn to control your passion. How? Pranayama with kumbhaka and concentration on spine centers of coccyx and sacrum with mula bandha, then concentration on anahata center, between shoulder blades (not on the frontal heart center),then relaxation and cultivation of thoughtlessness and meditation. After 1 year of practice you'll be able to draw sexual energy up from the sexual centers. It 's a hard job, but is the only way to realization.and don't think that you can enter Paradise with erection.

Masturbation is just like urination and defecation.

We have something excessive built up inside that we must unload to get relieved. We can't focus/concentrate properly on anything if our body is in tension.

Suppose you have your bladder full with urine and a strong pressure to piss, you will have a hard time to sit and meditate.

But once this excessive load is released (or sublimated in case of sexual energy), you can be more focused on the Spiritual path or whatever path you have taken.

Some people take it as a sin or bad thing to masturbate. But as you said "Im just watching my body's needs and functions like a child!" things look normal then and you progress swiftly with much better understanding of your being.

As Yogani ji has said: "Kundalini awakening is a partnership between ourselves and the divine."

And Nisargadatta: The very facts of repetition, of struggling on and on and of endurance and perseverance, in spite of boredom and despair and complete lack of conviction are really crucial. They are not important by themselves, but the sincerity behind them is all-important. There must be a push from within and pull from without.

All the best!

Thanks for your hints perdev! Ill take a look at your blog :)

As it is always with my posts, soon after posting them, the problem gets solved or the question gets answered from within. My behavior with masturbation has settled down recently to less then 1 per day - dont ask me why. Im just watching my bodys needs and functions like a child!

Thanks again,
Pan

We can't take sexual addiction as worst as it wont harm like other addiction. The more your body can adjust for masturbation its ok. The only negative thing is that you can't concentrate on your works until unless you masturbate. We can even say that masturbation decreases the level of stress or tension within so its not bad practice.
I urge u to focus and try to be busy so as to decrease the times you masturbate per day. 2 times per day is average some people masturbate 5 times....So be clam and relaxed. I recommend Autogenics which helps to control mind and body and take it in balanced state (based on experience). Visit my blog http://winnerpost.blogspot.com for the process of doing or u can google it...best of luck.

Hi Pan,
- http://www.aypsite.org/T16.html and the whole tantra lecture series by Yogani.
- the links in http://www.aypsite.org/forum/topic....D=6878#61503

And, in tantric intercourse, anything that keeps both of you aroused without getting closer to an ejac.

Hi Hathateacher & thanks for your respond.

I couldnt find the other thread where you mentioned the "smoothing out", could you please link it?

As for my experiences in my childhood, there were different therapys ive made, but if theres still something to smooth out, im glad if i get the chance to do so. 10 years of abuse leave their marks, i guess. Seems like a lot of karma i brought.

Hi Pan,
to what extent the AYP practices can cure repeated traumas makes a good question to Yogani. I guess relaxation, meditation and some soothing breath techniques such as Anuloma Viloma can learn your body to relax in new, non-depleting, deeper ways. I guess it would even make a good complement to some kind of a therapy.
The techniques described by Yogani take time to learn but are definitely worth it.
As for bedtime herbs, I'd go for those that make you more interested in sleep than in sex: hopes, camomille. Foodwise, I'd gradually reduce protein and prefer vegan proteins.

Responding to a question in a separate thread here, yes there are ways of intermingling/smoothing out the man's and the woman's 'charge' or 'voltage' other than ejacs.
Best of luck
hatha
