Posted - Jun 28 2012 : 06:53:22 AM Hi,
I'm new to yoga and fortunately found AYP.However I am having some trouble with my left eye as it opens just a litle bit involuntarily when I start to relax during the practice. The consequence of this is that I can only get into deep meditation when I practice at night, when there's no light and although my eye is open, I can't see anything. During daylight I get distracted because I start to see the outside world everytime I start to feel really relaxed. This disturbs me a lot, as I would like to quietly practice in any light condition.
Would be really appreciated if anyone could give advice on this matter.
Thanks in advance.

Posted - Jun 29 2012 : 8:35:43 PM Just FYI, in AYP, we don't recommed meditating outdoors. Here is Yogani's lesson on it : http://www.aypsite.org/31.html |

Posted - Jun 29 2012 : 7:35:31 PM Hi Shanti, thanks for the help. Will try to follow you're advice on not paying much attention and getting back to the mantra. When at home I always try to darken the room as much as possible, however that's not feasible when practicing outdoors.
I had a big laugh with your bed sheet trick |

Posted - Jun 28 2012 : 08:29:03 AM Welcome to the AYP forums.
This will only be a distraction in the beginning... and the more you think it's a distraction, the longer it will stay a distraction... Best is to not give it attention and just go back to the mantra and soon you wont notice the light much... This is what we tell people who are affected by the noise around them as well...
However if it is a distraction right now and you would like to have a solution (like we tell people to wear ear plugs if the noise if too much) you can try one of these: *** sit in a room that is darkened with curtains/shades/blinds on the windows/doors, make it as dark as you can (I used to do this before I came across AYP), *** wear an eye mask *** if you cant darken the room or don't have an eye mask, take a bed sheet and put it over you and make a tent around you (it works really well for bugs as well as light).
Hope this helps.
